One more thing...

I went out today for a bit. The sky is a beautiful carolina blue, but everything else is brown. stale and brown. And I just can't take it anymore.

I need green.and pink.
and yellow.
and purple.
and to sit here with my very favorite husband and see no more brown.

Mission

UPDATE: Table was found and purchased. Images will come soon. (I hope)

My mission this weekend is to find this table (or one close enough to it):

I need it. It's the perfect size, shape and style for a little nook of space in our living room that I am dying to make our office corner.

Please oh antique/consignment gods, hear my plea, let something close to this be in one of your stores I'm visiting this weekend.

Amen.

3 things

My best friend is having her first baby. And yesterday found out it was going to be a sweet little boy. As the technician put it from the images "100% boy". We are so excited and I think this might be the one that finally puts me over the "ready for baby" edge. I spent almost all morning trying to come up with a cute blog post for her in honor of Baby Boy Hefner.

If he's anything like his daddy he will definitely be sporting this once he arrives.

His mama on the other hand will make sure he is always presentable in these -

This one will be from me - I just love this sweet little book.

Watch out Baby Hefner, you are going to have a lot of loving on you when you finally arrive! And we can't wait! xoxo

mind blowing

Just found these pics and I am seriously without words!

Images from nymag.com & thefablife.com

It's Claire Danes and Jared Leto aka Angela and Jordan. 15 Years Later. (please no one say 15 years out loud). That is almost half my life. eeekk.
But seriously, I loved these two on My So Called Life. Remember?

Supper Time, Ya'll

Hold on to your aprons people. I'm cooking dinner tonight. Hopefully all is a success and Gordon Ramsey doesn't show up on my doorstep and berate me with his angry English accent.
A little back story for you all, John cooks dinner almost every night (I know - I'm a lucky girl), to tell you the truth, it makes me feel inadequate as a little wifey. I just don't have the cooking dinner desire. But we have a deal. He cooks, I clean. And even though I clean every pot, pan, and stinking mess that boy makes, I still want to try to cook for him. But what can I say? He loves to whip up his latest creation and I love to eat it. Aren't we cute?

So tonight it's my turn. Hope it's as pretty as the picture:

Gnocchi with Chicken Sausage, Bell Pepper, and Fennel recipe courtesy of MyRecipescom. Maybe I will try to remember to follow back up with a photo tonight. Probably not.

Springtime around your neck..

If there was one thing that I got from my Grandmother it was her love of jewelry and accessories. The women loved costume jewelry and scarves. She always had a broach on her lapel, a scarf around her neck to match her suit at church, earrings and necklaces to accent her dresses. I have always been drawn to accessories and love to add a bit of flair to my everyday outfits.

My all time favorite is the bib necklace. There is nothing better than a plain tank and a fun necklace to dress you up. My go-to place is Anthropologie (of course) to find the best ones. They are seriously like wearing springtime around your neck.

Just a few of my favs...

I mean, can't you just die???

Pretty much sums it up

Hello Monday, Hello work, Hello rain, Hello another week of a full list of to-do's. This basically explains how I felt after Saturday night. I basically partied 4 years into one night with some amazingly fun people. I think next time we will just meet for coffee.

It's booty kicking time

So 3 weeks before our wedding my gym decided to close it's doors. I had spent the whole summer (or the last 6 weeks) really working on my fitness to look halfway decent in my dress and on our honeymoon. Post wedding/honeymoon I forgot what the inside of a gym looked like. I aimed to do as little amount of physical activity as my 8 hour desk job allows. I recently joined a gym again and have found a class that I am in LOVE with. It is called power sculpt and it is my new best friend. I even like the instructor. Today I was reading Gwyneth's lastest post on Tracy Anderson. She is like the fitness instructor to the stars - Courteney Cox - need I say more? After watching her videos on youtube I realize I've done some of these moves in my new class (Teri rocks!). Here's hoping for some serious changes before Cabo in June. (That is another post entirely)

no more walk of shame here...

So this weekend I'm heading down to the QC to meet up with some lovely ladies I shared my college years with....luckily for us the only pictures I have from our times together are located in a Tupperware box in my parent's basement.

No facebook photo albums of pajama mixers where someone (who will remain nameless) kissed 4 guys in the same fraternity, late nights on the floor making mac and cheese and spitting luggies on the sorority's floor below us (not me of course), stealing the KA's composite on a weekly basis, walks of shame and coming home to a fire alarm drill, roses and thorns, chalking the campus (but we thought it was a good thing), back row bi*ches, the wall, Greek Sing champions one of those years - Stacy was the best Madonna ever, Time/Cosmo's/Dixie's/Fat Tuesday's, MEB, PIKE love, going out for the whole month of your 21st birthday, any day on LKN, fake id sharing, early 2000 "style", fish faces, weekend parties in UT North, pool days at Campus Edge and in the later years Campus Connection, besties with Dale Jr, kissing Skipper Kress, and the many many top secret memories those special years keep.

*those hot mama's above are the founding sisters. what what. I might share some from this weekend but the camera doesn't look like it will be cooperating at the moment.

my kind of front row...

what do they say? innie, minnie, miney, moe? Jared please.

X O X O

Do you remember valentine's day in elementary school? You would give your classmates cards of your favorite cartoon with suckers or treats and everyone would have their decorated card box on their desks to receive their valentines in during the day. And a few girls would always get a stuffed animal or a BIG card from a boy. Always full of suspense and excitement, and then letdown when you didn't get the BIG card or the stuffed animal from any boy. Last night I picked up his Valentine's day card and for the first time was able to buy one that said "to my husband". A whole section of cards just for MY HUSBAND. How fun. Now I have a valentine for the rest of my days. And that makes me happy.
(*doesn't this last valentine look like 2 little girls? how feminist of the vintage valentines...)

one more...

ok kiddies, one more for today and then i'm going home. during the 9 months we were wedding planning i was constantly looking on blogs for stories and inspirations for our big day.
Snippet and Ink was one of my most favorite sites and even though I don't have a wedding to plan, I remember these sites and randomly visit them now to see what's new and lovely in the ways of wedding bliss. Or stress, depending on what day it is.
The whole time of being engaged and planning was really a blur. I think about it now when I feel those two rings on my finger and am like, how did I get here already? Of course the times leading up it was all I wanted - and a little more, but we are waiting just a bit for that. I loved our engagement session. It was kinda akward, but one of those things we were super excited to do - or I was.

This lucky couple got a free session in NYC and a cute video to go along with the day.
Back story - HERE.

Saw this preview last night before Couples Retreat. Love the soundtrack and am interested in Ben Stiller playing something other than Gaylord.

Found this for extra insight.

hot mess

I mean I get it. Great Body. 41 years old. But seriously, I do not care you are in Mexico with your amigas Courtney Cox and Sheryl Crow. You have more money than I will ever see in 10 lifetimes so I have one little request Miss Aniston.

Please for the love of Ross - wear a cute bikini I can really be jealous of or just go to a nude beach if you don't want the tan lines! I can't stand the squishy boobs. But thanks for reminding me of my reality while I sit here in 24 degree weather and 45 mile an hour winds praying every second that a gi-normous oak tree doesn't fall on my house.

Confession - I truly don't get her fashion sense. She wears a belt in her beltlops of her jeans. That right there really shows her age. Sorry I said it.

Good Lord!

i'll never forget...

ain't life grand playing in the background, spining around in the dress, sweating in the heat, feeling very vogue but very silly all at the same time, loving every second of it.

Us

The story behind my profile picture over there -
This drawing was used in our save the dates for our wedding. The hubs grandfather was a designer in this little show called Schoolhouse Rock. He started out as an original Mad Man and worked for many well known companies in his day. Our fridge is covered with cards with drawings of himself and his wife Bernadette with well wishes that he sends to us for holidays and birthdays. I always knew when we got married that we would ask him to create our announcment for our friends and family. It couldn't be more like the hubs and I treasure this image always.

freaky friday

this closet belongs to LI LO herself. she's a shoe hoarder. among other things. good lord this is why I can't sleep at night.

maybe she should start selling them on a website like Kimmy's (via my blog crush MODG). but prob not, they prob are her only friends. besides dina.

and so these are the days of our lives...

I was so bummed to find out that Frances Reid died today. For those of you who might not know who Frances Reid is - she played the character Alice Horton from Days of our Lives. Days was my soap. My soap, my mom's soap and my beloved granma's soap. I remember my weeks during summer vacation spent with my grandparents stringing green beans (that I never ate), taking walks through the old tobacco fields, finding treasures in the old tractor shed, going to the red store for hubba bubba and always lunch then Days at 1:00.

Hope and Bo, Carrie and Lucas/Austin, Kayla and Patch, Marlena and Roman/John Black, Jennifer and Jack...the list goes on. But my favorite couple always was the grandpa and grandma Horton. Tom and Alice were the heart and soul of Salem. It may just be a soap, but it represents so much more. I miss my granma all over again. And she was just as cute as Mrs. Horton, if not cuter.

and she did not disappoint

Last night I sat in front of the TV in a trance. Kell on Earth premiered and she my friends, did not disappoint.

The insanity that is her life unfolded before my bugged eyes and I was loving every second of it. She is rough and tough but almost every single staffer looks to her as a mother figure. Their jobs are all high stress with computer malfunctions and slackers who don't pick up the slack when they work til 1 am and freaking out over a seating chart for a fashion show. A seating chart you say, hell fu*king yes a seating chart. My job is like .004% of the stress level but it is not fashion it is geriatrics. (but I digress) Designers I have never actually heard of, but Martha and Andre and all these other fabulous people sitting under one big tent. And Kelly has it all down to a science. For example, the people from Vogue can't sit next to the people at Elle. And the people from US Weekly and Life & Style can't sit behind the socialites/famous people because they will listen on their convos. Like DUH. That is why they always take their pics from across the catwalk people! It was like the parting of the red sea. AHHHHHHH! And Kelly's daughter/mini me Ava said it best when she told her mom if she had to sit in the 3rd row she wasn't going to dress up. Because it's not even worth dressing up if you have to sit in the THIRD ROW.
My only concern is that she is besties with Ashlee Dupre...but of course she has her own rational as to why they should be friends. to each their own. She's got me by the ankle booties and I'm starting to believe it's ok. I did try to google "Kelly Cutrone's Friends" but nothing really came up. It's ok Kel, you can count on me.

okay sorry for all these video posts...

but I seriously can't get over Pink's performance from the Grammy's last night.

I couldn't really understand the words so I googled the song.

Have you ever fed a lover with just your hands?
Close your eyes and trust it, just trust it
Have you ever thrown a fist full of glitter in the air?
Have you ever looked fear in the face
And said I just don't care

It's only half past the point of no return
The tip of the ice burg
The sun before the burn
The thunder before lightning
The breathe before the fraze
Have you ever felt this way?

Have you ever hated yourself for staring at the phone?
You're whole life waiting on the ring to prove you're not alone
Have you ever been touch so gently you had to cry?
Have you ever invited a stranger to come inside?

It's only half past the point of oblivion
The hourglass on the table
The walk before the run
The breathe before the kiss
And the fear before the flames
Have you ever felt this way?

La La La La La La La La

There you are, sitting in the garden
Clutching my coffee,
Calling me sugar
You called me sugar

Have you ever wished for an endless night?
Lassoed the moon and the stars and pulled that rope tight
Have you ever held your breathe and asked yourself will it ever get better than tonight?
Tonight
